The Eterna-Matic Kontiki collection holds a special place in the world of diving and adventure watches. Named after the famed 1947 Kon-Tiki expedition led by Thor Heyerdahl, in which he sailed a raft across the Pacific Ocean to prove that ancient civilizations could have made similar voyages, these watches were built to withstand extreme conditions. 

Eterna’s association with the expedition helped solidify the Kontiki’s reputation for durability and precision. Over the years, the Kontiki line has evolved, blending sportiness with elegance while retaining the adventurous spirit of its origins.

This elegant and sporty Eterna-Matic Kontiki Chronometer from the 1990s features a robust stainless steel case with a gold rotating bezel.

The case is in excellent condition, showing only light signs of use and measuring 40mm (excluding the crown). The original screw-down case back is correctly marked and numbered.

The watch is powered by an automatic Eterna-Matic / ETA 2892 caliber, a respected movement known for its reliability and precision which carries its COSC chronometer certification number. The movement has been serviced and runs perfectly, with the quick-set date function at 3 o’clock.

The original blue dial, with gold accents, remains in great condition, save for a minor circular mark between 7 and 8 o’clock. The double-thickness mineral glass is in excellent shape, while the crown has been replaced. 

The original stainless steel and gold bracelet comes with a secure folding clasp and flip-lock, it is an an excellent condition and it measures over 20 cm in total length.
