The Zenith Defy A3642, launched in 1969, marked Zenith’s strategic move into the high- resilience sports watch market. Immediately recogniseable for its distinctive octagonal case and fourteen-sided bezel, this watch was engineered for functionality and endurance. Released in the same year as the El Primero chronograph, the A3642 was an early expression of Zenith’s commitment to innovation in durability and design. This watch has a 37.5 mm stainless steel case (measured excluding the original screw-down crown), with brushed and polished surfaces and the correct markings on the caseback. This case has a screw-down caseback, a mineral glass, and a patented suspension system that protected the movement from shocks.
The back closes securely and the mineral crystal is free from damage. The case is in very good condition with only light signs of use. The watch is fitted with a custom-made one-off lacquered Tiffany blue dial, with applied red markers and red graphics. The typography is precise, and the dial shows no discoloration, cracks, or patina. Its bright configuration offers excellent visibility while evoking a strong aesthetic. This watch is powered by the Zenith caliber 2552 PC, an automatic movement beating at 21,600 vph, with 23 jewels, a central rotor and the date function.
The movement is known for its consistent performance across Zenith’s sport-oriented references. This watch is also fitted by a new – unbranded – light-blue suede strap The watch has been serviced in-house and is fully functional. It is delivered with our six-month guarantee and originality certificate. Worldwide shipping is available. Inquiries are also welcome.
