This 1920s Minerva single-pusher chronograph is one of the earliest pieces manufactured with the in-house caliber 13.20ch. Minerva, founded in 1858 in Villeret, specialized in precision timekeeping and chronographs. Released shortly after the introduction of its first chronograph caliber (Calibre 19.09 in 1909), the Calibre 13.20CH was introduced in 1923 as a true wrist-wearable chronograph. It combined a compact 123⁄4-ligne size with a column wheel, horizontal clutch, Breguet hairspring, and 17 jewels—one of the few such chronograph calibers available at the time. The 18kt gold case measures 36 mm in diameter (excluding crown) and has a double-hinged construction. It is in a very good condition, showing only light, age-consistent wear.

The caseback locks firmly and has the correct period serial numbers and RF (Robert Freres) and Minerva signatures. The plexiglass is intact. The original silvered dial with Breguet numerals and an inner “snail” telemeter scale outer seconds track and telemetrte scale with a chronograph counter at 3 o’clock and central seconds hand. The dial is in a good – untouched – and original well-preserved condition. It has a uniform, gentle patina but no spotting or discoloration is present. Powered with Calibre 13.20CH, this manually wound column-wheel chronograph movement was first introduced in 1923 and continued into the 1950`s. This timepiece is a rare example of an early production 1920`s single-pusher chrono, housed in a solid gold double-hinged case. Its design closely follows that of the larger Minerva chronographs built around the Calibre 17.29, but with a slightly reduced case size, offering a more compact interpretation of the same classic architecture.
