This original 1941 Longines barrel-case steel watch is representative of the Bauhaus / Art-Deco interpretation of the brand’s design reflecting Longines’ focus on restrained functionalism. The stainless-steel case measures 35 mm excluding the original crown and it is in a good overall condition, showing only light / normal traces of use. The pressure-locked back closes firmly, It bears the correct manufacturer’s hallmarks and production lot number 21406, and case number. The Plexiglas crystal is in an excellent condition. The silvered dial is original and in a very good untouched condition, with printed Arabic numerals, a peripheral minute track, and a subsidiary seconds counter at six o’clock. The printing is crisp and complete, and the thin blued hands are the original ones. This dial shows a very light and uniform time patina, the printing is crisp, two of the three dial feet show a slight bump on the dial edge. Inside, the manual-winding calibre 12.68Z operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour with a 41-hour power reserve and 17 jewels. This is one of Longines in-house most reliable and respected calibers, it has remained in production from 1938 to 1953.
