This Jaeger-LeCoultre Hexagon ref. 5000.21 represents one of the brand’s distinctive designs of the late 1970s and early 1980s, when the manufacture explored geometric case forms and refined automatic calibres for its dress watches, it is in a very good condition and in proper working order The case is 18-karat gold, measuring 35.5 mm excluding the original crown and 37 mm including the lugs. Its hexagon-shaped geometry is balanced by a thin bezel and short lugs, giving the watch a compact yet contemporary presence on the wrist. The case is in very good condition, showing only light and normal traces of wear, the caseback is fully signed and numbered and shows the correct reference, serial numbers and manufacturer`s markings and it is secured to the case via four gold screws. The sapphire crystal is free from scratches. The original lacquered white Roman dial with center seconds is in a very good condition and it has a quick-set date aperture at 3 o’clock.
The dial shows no visible signs of aging or discoloration. Inside beats the Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre 900, an ultra-thin automatic movement developed during the early 1970s, a period when the manufacture of Le Sentier reaffirmed its expertise in ultra-thin self-winding calibres. Introduced around 1975, the calibre 900 evolved from the renowned Jaeger-LeCoultre 800 series, sharing its elegant architecture but incorporating a more efficient bidirectional winding system and improved shock protection. Measuring only 3.2 mm in height, the movement has a central rotor mounted on ball bearings, ensuring smooth winding in both directions while maintaining minimal thickness — a hallmark of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s engineering approach. The watch is fitted with a new vintae-style lizard strap, It has been serviced in-house, is in proper working order, and is delivered with a six-month guarantee and certificate of originality.
