This Breitling Chronomat reference 808 occupies a position of historical significance within the brand’s chronograph production. The slide rule function was patented in 1941 and released between 1941 and 1942, establishing this model as the predecessor to the Navitimer. The name Chronomat derives from the combination of chronograph and mathematics, reflecting its original purpose. The reference 808 was released in the late 1950s, introducing round pump pushers and baton hour markers. The case measures 37mm in diameter, excluding the crown, its chrome-plated with a stainless steel snap caseback. The case shows only light traces of use consistent with responsible ownership over nearly six decades, the caseback lockt tight and has the correct serial numbers and manufacturer markings including patent number 217012.
