This vintage 1950`s Angelus Chronodato is a milestone in chronograph design and remains a sought-after piece among serious collectors. Angelus introduced the Chronodato in 1942 as the first serially-produced chronograph with a full calendar (day, date, month). The brand, founded in 1891 in Le Locle by the Stolz brothers, was known for manufacturing movements and competing in the high end of chronograph engineering. The case is stainless steel, measuring 38 mm in diameter excluding the original crown.

Tis chronograph is powered by the Angelus calibre 217 is a hand-wound, column-wheel chronograph movement developed specifically for the Chronodato series. The movement evolved from Angelus’ earlier calibre SF215, with the addition of a full calendar module (day, date, month) integrated into the chronograph base. From a functional and historical perspective, Cal. 217 is significant because it allowed Angelus to become one of the earliest manufacturers to put a full calendar (day, date, month) into a serially produced chronograph wristwatch. This combination of calendar and chronograph in a compact, wearable movement gave the Chronodato a technological edge in the 1940s. Collectors regard the 217 as one of the “holy trinity” of Angelus movements (along with calibres 215 and 216)
