TRITONA D.H. represents a specialized production line of water-resistant service watches manufactured by Hoeter & Cie / Compagnie des Montres Brémon Hoeter SA, based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The company, founded in 1872 by Auguste Hoeter, established itself as a recognized specialist in waterproof timepieces during the 1930s, utilizing the Tritona brand designation alongside earlier marks such as Teutonia and Tona. The D.H. designation (Deutsches Heer or Dienstuhr-Heer) identifies watches produced under military contract for German Wehrmacht forces between 1939 and 1944.
These service watches were manufactured in three distinct case diameters: 30mm, 32mm, and 34mm. Technical specifications included FHF 150 movements (10½ ligne, 15-17 jewels) in smaller cases and AS 1130 calibers (13 ligne, 15-17 jewels) in 34mm cases—both considered Wehrmachtswerk-grade movements meeting military precision standards. Case backs were stamped “Stahlboden” and “Wasserdicht,” confirming steel construction and water resistance, alongside individual serial numbers preceded by the D.H. military designation.
In 1944, Hoeter & Cie underwent reorganization as Compagnie des Montres Brémon Hoeter SA, eventually becoming part of the Breitling manufacturing structure, with the Hoeter name discontinued after 1952.
