Zenith’s Elite calibre family was introduced at Baselworld in 1994, the same year the company revived the El Primero. Where the El Primero is a high-frequency chronograph, the Elite was designed as a modular ultra-thin automatic movement produced entirely in-house at Le Locle — 11.5 lignes, under 4mm thick, with 50+ hours of power reserve.
It was voted Best Movement of the Year at its debut. The same architecture was selected by Panerai for their Radiomir OP VII models between 2000 and 2003 — a detail that speaks to its manufacture-grade finishing and reliability. It is still in production today.
This Port Royal houses the Calibre Elite 684: the rectangular-cased variant of the 680, with the date relocated to 6 o’clock and small seconds at 9.
The stainless steel case measures 31 x 44mm at just 8mm thick, and is in very good condition with only minor traces of use. The sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating is in an excellent condition.
The black dial has a grill-like centre portion, with large Arabic numerals, and mirror-polished faceted hands — fully original, clean, and legible.
This watch is complete with its original Zenith stainless steel bracelet, in an excellent consiton and with an overall length of approx 20 cm., and the original guarantee card dated 2005.
The movement has been serviced by our in-house watchmaker and runs strong.
If you are looking for a manufacture-grade automatic movement from a historically significant Swiss house — the same factory that produced the El Primero — the Port Royal is a very interesting entry point that the current market prices competitively. That will not remain the case indefinitely.
This watch will be delivered with our six-month guarantee and certificate of originality, as well as with its original 2005 guarantee cards.
Worldwide shipping is available and inquiries are welcome.
