Universal Watch Supra Single Pusher Chronograph (1933)
This Universal Watch Supra Single Pusher Chronograph from 1933 represents a distinctive chapter in the history of chronograph wristwatches.
Produced during the interwar period, this model highlights Universal Genève’s innovative approach to watchmaking.
Universal Genève, founded in 1894 in Le Locle, Switzerland, became synonymous with precision and innovation in watchmaking. By the early 20th century, the brand had gained prominence for developing high-quality chronograph movements.
Its early single-pusher chronographs, like this Supra model, were particularly revered for their technical sophistication and streamlined design, showcasing the brand’s early focus on functional elegance.
This Supra Chronograph has an 18-karat gold case measuring 38mm in diameter, excluding the crown, an impressive size for a 1930`s watch.
The case has a double-hinged construction, where both the bezel and the case back are hinged, ensuring robust protection for the dial and movement. A plexiglass crystal protects the dial and it is in an excellent condition
The case is in a good – vintage – condition, it shows some traces of use, smaller dings and scratches, both hinges are strong and the watch is suitable for daily use
Inside the watch beats the Universalé Caliber 14 1/2, a hand-wound single-pusher chronograph movement with a column wheel for smooth chronograph operation, ensuring reliability and precision in recording elapsed time.
The single-pusher design integrates start, stop, and reset functions into a single button, exemplifying Universal Genève’s focus on simplicity and functionality.
The watch is fitted its original enamel dial. The dial is a multi-scale design, with an outer telemeter and an inner snail tachymeter scale, along with crisp Arabic numerals and blued Breguet steel hands.
Despite its age, the enamel dial shows minimal wear, attesting to its careful preservation. The dials shows some light hairlines and a small restoration on the edge at 4 o`clock
This chronograph is fitted with a black alligator strap
