Universal Genève – Compax Ref. 284.445 Steel & Gold Chrono Cal. UG84 – Lemania 1873

This late-period Universal Genève Compax is a watch that rewards attention. Produced in Geneva’s final chapter of serious in-house chronograph manufacture before the brand’s decline, the ref. 284.445 represents the Compax name applied to a three-register manual-wind configuration of genuine technical substance — and in this steel and gold execution, considerable visual presence.

The 36.3mm steel case is in excellent, untouched condition. No polishing, no case work. The gold bezel, crown, and pushers are original and unrestored, the steel-and-gold contrast that defines this reference family and gives the piece an entirely different character from the all-steel variants. The screw-down caseback is correctly signed and numbered. The screw-down crown is original.

The black dial is in excellent condition — no restoration, no fading, no loss. Applied gold indices and gold Dauphine hands read cleanly against the matte surface. The tachymeter scale runs on the bezel to 400. The plexi crystal is perfect and unscratched.

The Cal. UG 84 is a 17-jewel manual-wind movement based on the Lemania 1873 caliber — a chronograph with 52-hour power reserve, well-regarded for reliability and finishing quality, which has also powrered the Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch as caliber 861. This Movement has been serviced by our in-house watchmaker and is running correctly.
