Description

The Universal Genève Compax family holds a special place in watchmaking history, especially for its pioneering work in chronograph design and manufacture.

Launched in the 1930s, the Compax line was among the first to offer multi-register chronographs, and quickly became popular with aviators, military personnel, and professionals. The Compax models set a new standard in chronograph functionality and design, with the line later expanding to include classic models such as the Tri-Compax and Aero-Compax, each known for their technical innovation and reliability.

This fascinating oversized Universal Genève Compax, reference 12510 from 1940, is in good condition and has been freshly serviced.

Its 18kt gold case, measuring a generous 36.7 mm (excluding the crown), shows only typical signs of wear, and the original, numbered, and hallmarked pressure-fitted case back retains all of its original markings.

The black gilt dial has been expertly reprinted and it is in excellent condition with no patina or oxidation. It has the clear readability that made the Compax models a favorite.

The watch is powered by the manual-wind Universal Genève caliber 287, a quality movement with column-wheel chronograph control, renowned for its precision and reliability. The chronograph starts and resets perfectly, a testament to the quality of this manufacture’s craftsmanship.

The watch is complete with a flawless plexiglass crystal and is fitted with a new leather strap.

It is sold with our 6-month warranty on functionality and our certificate of authenticity, making it a beautiful piece of Universal Genève history.
