Tudor – Ref. 7950 Oyster Prince Rotor Self-Winding Original 1958 Automatic Watch – Cal. 390

This is a stainless steel 1958 Tudor Oyster Prince ref. 7950, powered by the automatic Calibre 390, in good overall condition.

The ref. 7950 is part of the Oyster Prince 34 family introduced in the mid-1950s, Hans Wilsdorf’s concept for Tudor was precise: deliver the Rolex Oyster case and crown — manufactured by Rolex to the same specifications used on its own watches — at a more accessible price, fitted with proven third-party automatic movements. The “Oyster Prince” designation was Tudor’s equivalent to Rolex’s “Perpetual,” indicating automatic winding. The Cal. 390 is a quality movement based on a Fleurier ebauche, 17 jewels, with rotor self-winding and a 42-hour power reserve.

The stainless steel Rolex-made Oyster case measures 33.3mm excluding the original signed Rolex screw-down crown. The case is in good condition with light traces of use. The screw-down caseback is signed “Montres Tudor S.A.”

The silvered dial is original and untouched, with the Tudor rose at 12, and pointed baton indices. The dial shows a light and even patina with small oxidation spots at the edge — consistent with age. Dauphine hands.

The Plexiglass is perfect and the watch is fitted with an Italian leather strap.

The Cal. 390 runs fine and has been serviced by our in-house watchmaker.
