Rolex – Oyster Royal Ref. 6244 Original 1952 Watch – Cal. 10 1/2

The ref. 6244 succeeds the ref. 4444 directly in the Oyster Royal family, produced from approximately 1950 through the early 1960s.

Where the 4444 is distinguished by its scooped bezel, the 6244 adopts a smooth bezel profile — closer to the standard Oyster architecture Rolex.

The stainless steel case is in very good condition, unpolished, with no evidence of case work and it measures 32mm, without counting the crown. The screw-down caseback is original, fully signed and numbered. The original Oyster screw-down crown is there, (it is from a later generation) correctly signed, with the thread in good condition.

The two tones silvered dial has been restored, this is a very old restoration job as the luminescent materials on the numerals is most likely radium; this newer generation is also fitted with center seconds instead on small secs.

The movement is the Rolex Cal. 710 — 15 jewels, manual wind, with a super-balance. The movement has been serviced, is running correctly, and keeps time.

This watch is complete with its original glass, in a very good condition.

This watch will be delivered on a new vintage-style leather strap, it has been serviced in-house and is in good working order.
