Omega – Geneve Original 1969 Solid 18kt. Gold “C Case” Watch – Cal. 601

This vintage Omega Genève ref. 131-9001 dates to 1969, a period when Omega used the “Genève” designation for refined non-chronometer dress watches positioned just below the Constellation line. This watch is part of the transition in Omega’s design language as the brand approached the 1970s. The so-called “C-shaped” case, with its integrated lugs and smooth, rounded profile, was part of the contemporary trend toward more streamlined, modernist forms in watch design. This style, also seen in Omega’s Constellation and Seamaster lines of the same period, anticipated the bolder case shapes and integrated aesthetics that would become characteristic of the 1970s. The case is 18k solid gold and measures 34 mm in diameter excluding the original crown. It is a fully signed case manufactured in Italy under Omega licence.

The case is in very good condition, with only light and normal traces of use. The pressure-locked caseback closes securely and bears the correct manufacturer markings. The plexiglass crystal is from scratches. The original silvered center-seconds dial is in an excellent untouched condition, with applied gold baton hour markers, it shows no patina, discoloration, or oxidation. Inside beats the Omega in-house calibre 601, a 17-jewel, hand-wound movement running at 19,800 vph, woth a reliable and qualitative construction. The watch is fitted with a vintage leather strap complete with its original Omega clasp.
