Movado – Calendomatic Triple Calendar Breguet Numerals Automatic Steel & Gold Watch – Cal. 233

The Calendomatic was Movado’s response to the post-war demand for practical calendar complications in a wrist-worn format — a triple calendar integrating day, date, and month into a dial architecture that remained legible without adding case volume. The ref. 16352 is the steel-and-gold variant of that family, produced in the early-to-mid 1950s and now among the more collectable Calendomatic configurations.

The case is a François Borgel-patented three-body construction: stainless steel body and caseback, gold-capped lugs, and solid gold stepped bezel — a two-material architecture that positions this reference between the all-steel entry variants and the full gold examples. The Borgel screw-down caseback provides a degree of moisture resistance uncommon in dress watches of the period. Two recessed pushers in the band advance the month and day displays independently. Case diameter is 32,5mm excluding the crown. The case is signed and numbered, and the crown is original.

The silvered two-tone dial with Breguet numerals — gives the dial a classical look. Day and month, in english, are displayed in the apertures. The central date hand points to the perimeter chapter ring graduated 1–31. The movement has the correct US import markings.

The movement is the Movado Cal. 223 — a bumper automatic, 17 jewels, Breguet overcoil hairspring, shock protection, running at 18,000 bph. The Cal. 223 is a manufacture-grade calibre representative of Movado’s production during the brand’s most technically ambitious decade. Movement has been serviced, the calendar functions are operational and timekeeping is accurate.
