Longines – REF. 5356 Classic Time Original 1957 Steel Watch – Cal. 12.68Z

The watch is plain and that is the point of it. A silvered dial, Arabic numerals, a minute track, gold hands, small seconds at six. No date. What makes it worth having is that it has survived without being touched.

The watch. The original steel case measures an elegant 34.5 mm, excluding the original crown. The case is unpolished and in very good condition, showing only light traces of use. The pressure-fitted back is correctly signed and numbered. Overall condition is very good.

The acrylic crystal is perfect.

The dial is original and untouched, with no restoration, and shows only a very light and even patina.

The movement is the Longines calibre 12.68Z: 12 lignes, 17 jewels, 18,000 vibrations an hour, 41-hour reserve, Incabloc. Longines built it in-house from 1938; it is a reliable calibre and Longines kept it in production for over twenty years. Running well, keeping accurate time.
