This is a rare 1927 vintage Longines pilot’s wristwatch, reference 4303, a significant piece of early aviation horology. With its substantial 43mm chrome-plated metal case with a hinged back, this timepiece was designed for optimal legibility and durability, essential qualities for pilots. The case is in very good condition, it shows only light traces of use, the hinged back locks firmly, it has the correct Longines stamping and the serial number that match the movement, confirming its authenticity. As the movement is a Savonette caliber, the case is surprisingly thin with a thickness of only 12mm, including the original domed mineral glass, which is in excellent condition. The watch has its original black gilt dial with Arabic numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The dial has aged gracefully, displaying a subtle oxidation around the edges. The luminous hands designed for visibility in low-light conditions, remain intact.
