This 1937 Longines wristwatch exemplifies the refined watchmaking standards that defined the Swiss manufacturer during its pre-war period. Longines distinguished itself through complete in- house movement production, manufacturing every component without external suppliers.
The timepiece has a fancy-shaped stainless steel case measuring 32mm excluding the original crown. The case is in good condition with only light traces of use consistent with its age. The pressure-locked caseback locks securely and displays correct serial numbers with appropriate manufacturer markings. The professionally restored two-tone sector silvered dial Sector dials were designed to aid precise time measurement, with the dial divided into segments of five minutes and quarters. The dial is in an excellent condition, one letter of the Longines logo is slightly smudged, the dial has a small seconds counter at six o`clock. The plexiglass is in perfect condition. The movement is the Longines caliber 12.68, a manual-wind mechanism that was introduced in 1938 and remained in production until 1959-1960. This 27mm movement features 17 jewels, operates at 18,000 beats per hour, and provides 41 hours of power reserve. The watch has been serviced in-house and functions correctly. The timepiece is fitted with a new leather strap in brown.
