This 1942 Longines “D.H.” Wehrmacht wristwatch is indicative of the high quality of Longines watches supplied to the German military forces during World War II, it is one of an indicative production of 5000 timepieces issued, with “Deutsches Heer” / “D.H.” on the caseback.

The watch has a stainless steel 32.5 mm step case (measured excluding the original crown), it has a light wear, it retains most of its original finish and it does not seem to have been polished. Its “sei tacche” – six-notches screw-on caseback bears the “D.H.” marking and a low serial number, confirming manufacturing within the documented range for Heer-issued Longines watches.

The robust case design provided a basic moisture protection, essential for field deployment.

Beneath a well-preserved plexiglass, the original black glossy silver-gilt dial with bold Arabic numerals and a small seconds counter at 6 o’clock. The dial is in a very good condition, it shows a light and even time patina and some light shading on a small protion of the edge, with no flaking or discoloration present.

At its core lies the Longines Caliber 12.68Z, introduced in 1938 and produced into the early 1960s. This manual-wound movement measures 27 mm in diameter and 4.5 mm thick, operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour, and is renowned for its durable architecture, including precision regulation and ease of servicing. It was widely adopted for both civilian and military timepieces, offering reliability under demanding conditions—a key factor for Wehrmacht use.

Matched with a vintage leather strap, this watch has been recently serviced in-house and is in sound mechanical condition. It is delivered with a six-month mechanical guarantee and a certificate of authenticity.
