Original and rare solid gold vintage 1935-36 LeCoultre Reverso man`s size manual winding watch. 

The Reverso, originally designed as a sporty watch, was predominantly produced in steel with only a few crafted in gold. A notable aspect of this particular Reverso is the rarity of finding such a vintage piece with its original dial in excellent condition.

On the reverse side, the watch features an intricately engraved crest depicting a hand holding an open book, accompanied by the Latin inscription “Pro Virtute” – translating to “For Virtue” in English. This crest belongs to the English Reid family.

Upon further investigation with the previous owner, it was revealed that this watch was once owned by Captain Alec Stafford Cunningham-Reid. He was a celebrated ace of the Royal Flying Corps during World War I and was honored with the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1918. This piece is not just a timekeeper; it’s a fragment of history.

This watch is crafted from 9kt gold and bears English gold proof marks, confirming its origin and authenticity.

This timepiece is equipped with one of the earliest manual wind original LeCoultre cal. 11UO movements, identified by the code 43. This code indicates that the movement was crafted around 1935-36, just before the historic 1937 merger between Jaeger and LeCoultre.
