The appeal here is the shape and the scale. This is a cushion “carré cambrée” case in the full 1970s design — broad, flat, squared at the shoulders, with brushed flanks and a polished edge — and it is worn at a size most watches of its era were not built at.
At the centre a white lacquered dial with Roman numerals and a fine chemin-de-fer minute track, the layout Cartier made the reference point for the genre. Blued hands, no date, no clutter.
The watch. Chromed base metal case with pressure-fitted steel back, mesured w full 38.5 mm x 38.5 mm mm across, it is in excellent condition with sharp edges and an unworn finish.
The original laquered white roman dial is clean and unrestored, with no discolouration and no loss to the printing.
The acrylic crystal is perfect.
The movement is a Peseux 7040, hand-wound with a 44-hour reserve and Incabloc protection. At 10.5 lignes and just 3.1 mm thick it is a dress calibre in the proper sense, built in Neuchâtel from 1968 and belonging to the Peseux 7000 family .
This watch is also fitted with its original strap leather and silk strap, in an unused condition
