Jaeger LeCoultre – Cushion Ref. 6021 Original 18kt. Gold Lady’s Watch – Cal.K840

This cushion-shaped ref. 6021.21 belongs to the family of sculptural, organic-shaped dress watches that Jaeger-LeCoultre produced during the 1970s, the decade when the manufacture allowed its designers to move beyond the classical round and rectangular forms that had defined its catalogue for forty years.

While Audemars Piguet went octagonal with the Royal Oak, JLC went in a quieter direction: soft cushion cases with rounded corners, flowing surfaces, and proportions that belong more to jewellery design than to traditional watchmaking.

The ref. 6021.21 is a distilled expression of this period, a small, sculpted gold case with no sharp edges.

The 18kt yellow gold case measures 21.5 × 29 mm, it is in very good condition with only light traces of use. The caseback is correctly signed and numbered. The crown is original. The plexiglass has some light traces of use.

The grey dial with gold cartouche a round chapter ring with black Roman numerals, is original. The two-tone grey and gold combination gives the dial a depth that a single-surface dial cannot produce. Dial condition is very good, there is a very light and even time patina. The blued steel hands are original.

The movement is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre K840, an in-house manual-wind movement with Kif shock protection. It has been serviced and is running strong.

The watch is fitted with a new leather strap.
