IWC – Ingenieur Chronograph Alarm Ref. 3805 Original Steel Watch – Cal. 633

The Ingenieur Chrono Alarm ref. 3805 was introduced in 1991 and remained in production until 1997. Its case design — based on Gerald Genta’s Ingenieur SL foundation with the addition of wedge-shaped chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock, knurled crowns, and a flieger-influenced dial — established the visual language for all subsequent Ingenieur chronographs.

The crown at 10 o’clock sets the alarm function, indicated by a red skeleton hand.

The movement is the Calibre 633, produced by Jaeger-LeCoultre for IWC — an electromechanical hybrid containing 222 parts and 27 jewels. Two quartz-controlled stepping motors regulate timekeeping, while the chronograph is mechanically driven, and the alarm operates through a separate mechanical train. The result is a movement that combines the accuracy of quartz with the tactile engagement of a mechanical chronograph — a technical approach that was produced for a limited period and has not been revisited since.

The stainless steel case measures 34.2 mm with a thickness of 8.5 mm. The screw-down caseback and crown, soft iron anti-magnetic inner cage, and sapphire crystal are intact. The case is in a very good, untouched condition.

The laquered white dial with applied indices, three chronograph registers, date, and the red alarm hand, all is in excellent condition.

This watch has been factory serviced by IWC and is delivered with an IWC factory guarantee valid until June 2028.

It is fitted with a new strap and its original IWC clasp.
