This TAG Heuer Monza ref. CR2111 is a short-lived yet historically meaningful chronograph that pays tribute to Heuer’s deep ties with motorsport. This model was manufactured for only two years, between 2000 and 2002, as part of a re-edition series inspired by the original 1976 Heuer Monza, which commemorated Ferrari’s 1975 Formula One World Championship victory with drivers Niki Lauda and Clay Regazzoni. The original Monza had a black PVD-coated case, a left-side crown, and a bold red-and-black dial with dual tachymeter and pulsometer scales—elements that were simplified and reinterpreted in the year 2000 Monza reissue. The CR2111 has a stainless steel cushion-shaped case giving it a more contemporary and dress-oriented character. The case measures 37.8 mm wide (excluding the original crown) and 44 mm lug-to-lug, with round chrono pushers. The caseback is fully numbered and signed. The case is in an overally excellent condition and it shows only light traces of use. The sapphire crystal is in an excellent condition.
The silvered dial is clean and symmetrically balanced, with three sub-dials: a 30-minute chronograph counter at 9 o’clock, a running seconds at 3 o’clock, the chronograph`s hours counter at six o`clock plus the date aperture at 5 o’clock. Applied hour markers and sword-style hands offer excellent legibility, and the original Heuer-only logo (rather than TAG Heuer branding) highlights its retro design. Inside is the Caliber 2894-2, a modified ETA automatic movement with chronograph module. The watch is fitted with its original black crocodile strap and stainless steel folding clasp, in excellent condition. Fully serviced in-house, the watch is delivered with a six-month guarantee and originality certificate.
An uncommon reference in the Monza lineage, the CR2111 is distinct from later TAG-branded “Monza” versions due to its Heuer dial and its brief production span—making it a collectible link between Heuer’s past and TAG Heuer’s early reissue strategy.
