Favre-Leuba, founded in 1737, is the second-oldest Swiss watch brand in continuous existence. By the 1970s the house had a record of doing the unexpected — the Bivouac altimeter, the Water Deep depth gauge — and this ladies’ bracelet watch belongs to that same spirit of design and materials experiment.

The bracelet is built from seven linked ring-like elements, each a ring of wood — most likely rosewood, judging by the warm grain — set into a sterling 925 silver disc. The center ring holds a watch; the other six are part of an open, rhythmic, sculptural design that reads more as modernist jewellery than as a conventional watch. Overall length is 18–20cm, with an extensible clasp. It is an object of its decade, when the industry, pressed by quartz, reached for novelty in form and material.

The smoked dial with Breguet Arabic numerals and a warm graduated tone, is framed within the sterling silver and wood bezel and is in a pristine condition.

The movement is the manual-wind Favre-Leuba calibre FL503, based on the FL4035, running correctly.

The watch is in new-old-stock condition, unworn, and is complete with its original hangtag.
