Original and scarce 1920`s Eberhard “gun metal” trench watch, in excellent condition and in proper working order. Gunmetal—a bronze alloy typically composed of 88% copper, 10% tin, and 2% zinc—served as a practical case material for trench watches during and immediately following the First World War. The alloy, originally developed for ordnance casting in the mid-19th century, offered distinct advantages: inherent corrosion resistance, adequate structural strength, and a naturally dark, non-reflective surface finish. By the mid-1920s, as wristwatch design evolved toward integrated lug construction and improved plating technologies, gunmetal case production declined in favor of chromium-plated brass and stainless steel. The manual wind movement is a quality Eberhard well fnished movement based on an FHF caliber it runs and keeps time, it has been fully serviced in-house and is delivered with our 6 months guarantee.
