Eberhard – Original 1920`s Sterling Breguet Numerals Enamel Dial Chronograph – Cal. 15 1/2

This 1920s Eberhard & Co. single-pusher chronograph is a significant example of early wrist chronographs, Eberhard was among the first Swiss manufacturers to specialize in chronographs, producing some of the earliest wrist chronographs in the 1920s. These early pieces were aimed at professionals and sportsmen at a time when chronographs were transitioning from pocket to wrist format.

The watch has a sterling silver alloy case measures 39.2 mm in diameter, excluding the onion- shaped crown. The double-hinged case construction was typical of the period, allowing easy access for servicing. The case is in very good condition, with only light traces of use and has the correct manufacturer`s markings and serial numeber. The high-dome plexiglass is in excellent condition. The original white enamel dial is in an excellent condition, with no chippings or hairlines and it retains its period character. It has bold black Breguet numerals, a red “12,” and subsidiary dials for running seconds and 30-minute chronograph register. Inside beats the Eberhard 151⁄2-ligne calibre, a movement based on a Landeron-Hahn ébauche, a robust hand-wound movement with column-wheel control and a single pusher for start, stop, and reset functions. This calibre is one of the earliest chronograph movements for wrist use.
