Ebel, founded in 1911 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, is renowned for its elegant designs and high-quality craftsmanship, often collaborating with some of the best movement manufacturers in the industry. 

During the mid-20th century, Ebel produced a series of sophisticated chronographs powered by movements from Lemania, a company famous for creating highly reliable and precise chronograph calibers. 

Lemania, established in 1884, played a crucial role in the history of watchmaking, supplying movements to esteemed brands like Omega, Patek Philippe, and of course, Ebel. The Lemania calibers are particularly valued for their robustness and superior performance, often being chosen for some of the most iconic chronographs.

This rare and interesting Ebel/Lemania chronograph from the 1950s is a beautiful example of this partnership. It has a stainless steel case in excellent condition, with only minor signs of age, and measures 34.5 mm in diameter excluding the crown. The original press-fitted case back in also in an excellent condition

The dial is a stunning tri-tone design with gilt graphics, in outstanding condition with no patina or oxidation. It provides a captivating and legible display, typical of high-end chronographs from this era.

Inside beats the manually wound Lemania Caliber 27.CH-12, a column-wheel chronograph movement known for its precision and craftsmanship. This movement has been expertly serviced by our watchmaker, ensuring it runs accurately, with the chronograph starting and resetting flawlessly.

The watch comes with a new leather strap, a perfect plexiglass crystal, and the original crown.
