This Aureole Super-Compressor Sports Dive Automatic, dated in 1962, is a respected dive watch of this period, with its characteristic inner turning bezel and two crowns.
The patented EPSA (Ervin Piquerez SA) compressor case is emblematic of the late 1950`s advancements in underwater horology. The Super-Compressor design is characterized by the two-directional turning bezel placed inside the plexy-glass and adjusted via a second crown, and it has become one of the defining characteristics of this period`s dive watches.
These cases were manufactured by EPSA and were offered in two sizes, one 36mm, like this one, and a larger 39/40mm one.
This specific timepiece has a stainless steel case measuring 35.8 mm, excluding the original cross-hatch crowns. The plexiglass crystal is also in an excellent condition.
At its core lies the ETA caliber 2451, a reliable automatic movement introduced in the 1950s. This 11½-ligne caliber has a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. This movement gained recognition for its durability and adaptability, serving as the foundation for numerous watches across various brands.
The original black glossy gilt dial stands out with bold triangular hour markers and contrasting hands, with an excellent readability. The dial is in a very good untouched condition, it shows only a light and even time patina. The inner rotating bezel, a hallmark of Super-Compressor watches, is also in an excellent condition.
This watch has been fully serviced in-house, It is in excellent working condition, accompanied by a six-month guarantee and a certificate of originality.
