Doxa – Original “DH – Dienshuhr Heere” German WWII Military Wehrmacht Army Watch

DOXA was founded in 1889 by Georges Ducommun in Le Locle, Switzerland, initially as Georges Ducommun, Fabriques DOXA, deriving its name from the Greek word for “glory.” Following Ducommun’s death in 1936, son-in-law Jacques Nardin (grandson of Ulysse Nardin) assumed directorship. During the Second World War, DOXA supplied D.H. and D designation service watches to Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe forces.

Production utilized various Swiss ébauche movements including AS 1130 calibers. DOXA chronographs proved particularly popular with German aviators. Post-war production included the 1957 Bauhaus-inspired Grafic collection, culminating in the landmark 1967 SUB 300 diving watch developed with Jacques-Yves Cousteau, before eventual acquisition by the Jenny family in 1997.
